Day One

✈️ BENVENUTO A VENEZIA!

Begin your Italian adventure with a spectacular arrival in Venice. As you land at Venice Airport, a private water taxi will whisk you away through the enchanting Venetian canals.

Enjoy the views of magnificent buildings and historical bridges from the comfort of your boat. This scenic transfer is just a taste of the beauty and charm that Venice holds. Upon arrival at your carefully selected accommodation in Venice Mestre, settle in and soak up the ambiance of this vibrant area, perfectly situated to explore the historical center.

  • In the evening, indulge in a romantic dinner by the canal. Venice’s canal-side restaurants offer a charming atmosphere, delectable Italian cuisine, and picturesque views of the shimmering waterways.

Day Two

SCORPRIRE I TESORI NASCOSTI DI VENEZIA

Embark on a unique journey through Venice with an LGBTQ+ friendly private walking tour. This insightful tour delves into the rich history of homosexuality during the Serenissima period. Your guide will lead you to historical gathering spots of the ancient Venetian gay community, sharing fascinating stories that highlight the city's diverse cultural heritage.

This tour not only uncovers the roots of homosexual culture in Venice but also offers a deeper understanding of its unique art, history, and traditions.

  • Continue your exploration with a guided visit to two of Venice's most iconic landmarks: Doge's Palace and Saint Mark's Basilica. At Doge's Palace, immerse yourself in centuries of Venetian political history, marveling at the elegant rooms adorned with frescoes and gold.

    Experience the eerie yet fascinating Bridge of Sighs, leading to the old Venetian prisons.

Day Three

UNA GIORNATA A TUO RITMO

Today is your chance to explore Venice at your leisure. Start your day with a hearty breakfast before setting off to discover the city’s many treasures. Art lovers can visit the Ca' Pesaro Galleria Internazionale d'Arte Moderna or the Peggy Guggenheim Collection.

Alternatively, take a trip to San Giorgio Maggiore, one of Venice’s smaller islands, or enjoy a shopping spree on Le Mercerie. For a truly unique experience, rent a kayak and see Venice from the water, or browse the bohemian San Samuele district’s boutiques and galleries

Day Four

TRANSIZIONE A FIRENZE

Bid farewell to Venice and hop on a high-speed train to Florence. This comfortable journey offers premium seating, allowing you to relax and take in the scenic Italian countryside. Upon arrival, a private driver will take you to your Florence accommodation.

  • After checking in, take some time to explore the historic center of Florence. This compact area is perfect for a leisurely stroll, featuring attractions like the Duomo, Piazza della Signoria, and Ponte Vecchio.

Day Five

Start at the Galleria dell'Accademia, home to Michelangelo’s David and other significant works. Continue to the Uffizi Gallery, where you’ll admire masterpieces like Botticelli’s Primavera and Caravaggio’s Medusa, all through the lens of queer history. This engaging tour offers a fresh take on Florence’s artistic legacy.

Day Six

ARTIGIANATO E CUCINA A FIRENZE

Experience the ancient craft of leatherworking in a workshop at the Leather School of Florence. Guided by expert craftsmen, you’ll learn traditional and modern techniques to create your own unique leather item, such as a belt or wallet.

This hands-on activity is a fantastic way to connect with Florence’s artisanal heritage and create a one-of-a-kind souvenir.

  • In the afternoon, join a local cooking class to learn the secrets of traditional Italian cuisine. Hosted in a cozy bed and breakfast, the class begins with a welcome glass of prosecco. Under the guidance of an experienced chef, you’ll prepare four dishes from scratch, using fresh, seasonal ingredients.

    Afterward, enjoy the fruits of your labor with a delicious meal shared with your host and fellow participants. This culinary experience is the perfect way to cap off your stay in Florence.

Day Seven

👋🏽 ADDIO ALL’ITALIA

    Your Flight from your Home country to Italy is not included. Check-in is on May 1st at 4 PM, and check-out is on May 7th at 10 AM. Please plan your arrival and departure accordingly, and feel free to reach out with any questions regarding your flight arrangements.

  • Travel Insurance

    Mandatory travel insurance is not included, however Basic coverage can be added on to your trip package or we can provide you with a quote for a different policy. Just add either when checking out.

  • Passport Fees and Vaccines

    Your current passport must be valid for more than 6 months from the trip date and you must be up to date on any vaccines required by the country

Food/Drinks

We will consume a variety of Italian dishes from the Italian cuisine. Meals are not provided every day, so you are free to eat other dishes in non-group meal activities.

Physical Activities

This trip involves a lot of walking. Please ensure that you are physically able to participate in those activities without complaint. If not, then this may not be the best trip for you.

Money/Currency

Italy uses the Euro (EUR) as its currency, so be sure to exchange your USD to Euros upon arrival in Italy when we pick you up. It is recommended to bring cash with you, as many places prefer cash transactions. Some establishments do accept cards; however, you will need to set travel notices with your bank to use your card. Additionally, be aware that you may incur an international transaction fee for each card purchase.

For convenience, it is advisable to bring cash with you and exchange it upon arrival.

Prior to Your Departure

Check if you need to update your passport, your expiration date needs to be more than 6 months from the date of the trip

Flights

Fly to the Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE) and plan to arrive between 11 am and 3 pm local time.

Travel Insurance

Missing a vacation is bad enough. Losing the money you paid for your vacation is even worse. Trip insurance is therefore highly recommended. Your premium is related to your trip cost, so you don’t have to worry about being over-insured. We want to make your travel experience seamless, so sign up and we will get a travel insurance policy for you or we can provide you with a no obligation quote. If you opt not to go with our preferred travel insurance provider, you are required to get your own and proof of insurance may be requested before the trip.

All payments to Lesbifriends Travel are non-refundable and non-transferable. This is because Lesbifriends Travel has contractual agreements with hotels, airlines, and other vendors that will not allow us to obtain any refunds. This way we can keep our package prices low and allow you to make monthly payments on your vacation.

When you sign up for a trip, you are automatically signed up for monthly payments and your confirmation email will clearly note your due dates and amount. We suggest you put this payment plan on your personal calendar.

A $75 late fee will be applied to all payments made after the 3-day grace period. Your trip is subject to cancellation after two missed payments.

  • If you are traveling alone and do not want to spend the extra money for a single occupancy room, we are happy to match you with a like-minded traveler to be your roommate on this trip. We understand that the extra money spent in getting your own room takes away from the money available for you to splurge while on vacation.

    For that reason, we extend each traveler the option of having us pair you with a suitable roommate for no additional cost. Roommates are paired based on room selection and a potential roommate questionnaire if there are several solo travelers. Before the trip, you will be introduced to your roommate, with plenty of time for you to get to know each other before we reach our destination.

  • Do you know someone who is interested in joining our trip but has not been to a Lesbifriend event or trip? Here is your chance to save a little money while bringing them on a trip of a lifetime!

    For every traveler that you refer to our trip, you will receive up to a $150 ($25 cash, $50 current trip credit, or $75 future domestic trip credit, or $150 future international trip credit) referral bonus once that person pays in full. There is no limit to the number of people you can refer; the only condition is that anyone you refer has not already signed up with Lesbifriends.
