What Trip Co-Leaders Do

Trip Co-Leaders are community builders, culture keepers, and on-the-ground support. They:

  • Lead pre-trip communication via group chats and trip information sessions

  • Help maintain group energy and support on daily activities

  • Offer emotional support, build connections, and uplift the values of LBF

  • Liaise with the LBF operations team when needed

  • Submit content (photos/videos), feedback, and reflections after the trip

You are not expected to be perfect or have all the answers, but you are expected to show up, communicate well, and prioritize the guest experience and group vibe.

Training & Support

Every Trip Co-Leader must complete our self-paced online training course, which includes:

  • 6 engaging video and written lessons

  • Downloadable tools like checklists, sample group chats, agenda templates, and prep guides

  • Real examples from past trips

  • Quizzes and reflection activities to test your knowledge

  • Ongoing support from the Lesbifriends team

This training sets you up to lead with confidence and clarity while leaving room for your personality and leadership style to shine.

This contribution covers your accommodations, activities, and most meals, just like a regular guest. It's a thank-you for your time and leadership, while still allowing us to sustain the program.

  • You’re still welcome to apply! If you’re selected as a Trip Co-Leader and have already paid more than the required contribution, we will reimburse you the difference.

  • It depends on the trip. Some trips will have one Trip Co-Leader, while others may have two. You’ll know in advance and have time to collaborate if another leader is joining you. Either way, the Lesbifriends team will be supporting you every step of the way.

  • Not at this time. This is a volunteer leadership role with a significant travel discount. That said, outstanding co-leaders may receive bonuses, shoutouts, and opportunities for future compensated roles as we grow.

  • The training is self-paced and designed to take about 2–3 hours total. It includes:

    • Six short video lessons

    • Written resources

    • Downloadable guides

We recommend completing the training at least two weeks before your trip kickoff session.

  • You’re not doing this alone. You’ll have:

    • South Africa (2025)
